TiDB Certification Program

PingCAP's official, tiered certification path for TiDB — a free entry-level practitioner exam, followed by paid Associate and Professional DBA exams, each online-proctored.

About

PingCAP’s certification path starts with the TiDB Practitioner Certification, a free, online-proctored, 50-minute exam that can be retaken until you pass, covering TiDB’s basic concepts, terminology, and use cases. Above that sit paid exams: the Certified TiDB Associate (Database Administrator), an 80-minute exam aimed at the skills needed to deploy, manage, and operate TiDB and TiDB Cloud workloads, and the Certified TiDB Professional Database Administrator, which requires passing the Associate exam first.

PingCAP recommends its TiDB Essentials training as preparation for the Associate exam, with a training and certification portal at eng.edu.pingcap.com. A separate Certified SQL Developer exam is also offered for application developers rather than DBAs.
