Clever Cloud is a Platform-as-a-Service company founded in 2010 and headquartered in Nantes, France. Its MySQL add-on is a fully managed database service built on Percona Server, a MySQL-compatible open-source implementation, kept up to date with current MySQL releases (for example, a 2025 changelog entry announced MySQL 8.0.42 and 8.4.5 becoming available on the platform).
Databases are hosted in the company’s own EU datacenters, with data staying inside the European Economic Area; the company reports ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification and states GDPR compliance. A free DEV plan is available for testing (lower performance, no backups or SLA), while paid dedicated plans add daily backups with a configurable retention window, encryption at rest, and optional ProxySQL-based connection pooling. Billing is per-second per instance, and dedicated databases can be migrated between plans, versions, or deployment zones from the console. Data can be imported via phpMyAdmin, the mysql CLI, or a client such as MySQL Workbench.
