Our Pledge

The OurSQL Foundation is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful, and harassment-free experience for everyone who interacts with us through oursqlfoundation.org — whether you’re reaching out through our Contact Us form, subscribing to or replying to our newsletter, or engaging with content we publish. We pledge to make participation in these interactions a positive experience for people of all backgrounds and levels of experience, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Our Standards

Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment include:

  • Using welcoming and inclusive language.
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences.
  • Gracefully accepting constructive feedback.
  • Focusing on what is best for the MySQL community and ecosystem as a whole.
  • Showing empathy and courtesy toward other community members.

Examples of unacceptable behavior include:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory jokes and language.
  • Personal or political attacks, insulting or derogatory comments, and trolling.
  • Public or private harassment of any kind.
  • Publishing others’ private information (such as a physical or email address) without explicit permission.
  • Spam, deceptive, or fraudulent submissions through our forms or communications channels.
  • Any other conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all interactions with the OurSQL Foundation conducted through oursqlfoundation.org and its official communication channels (such as the Contact Us form and newsletter correspondence). As the Foundation expands into additional community spaces (such as chat platforms or in-person events), separate or extended conduct guidelines may apply to those spaces.

Enforcement Responsibilities

The OurSQL Foundation is responsible for clarifying and enforcing this Code of Conduct and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior it deems inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

All reports will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly, and will be handled with discretion. We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of anyone who reports an incident.

Enforcement Guidelines

The OurSQL Foundation will follow these Community Impact Guidelines in determining the consequences for any action it deems in violation of this Code of Conduct:

  1. Correction — A private, written warning, with clarity around the nature of the violation and an explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate.
  2. Warning — A warning with consequences for continued behavior, including no further interaction with those involved for a specified period.
  3. Temporary restriction — A temporary restriction from any form of interaction or communication with the OurSQL Foundation for a specified period.
  4. Permanent restriction — A permanent restriction from any form of public interaction with the OurSQL Foundation.
