Founding Board
The OurSQL Foundation is led by an independent founding board — individuals from across the MySQL community who came together to build a vendor-neutral home for the ecosystem.

Vadim Tkachenko
President, OurSQL Foundation
PerconaVadim Tkachenko is Technology Fellow and Co-Founder of Percona, a company he co-founded in 2006 to support open source database users. He has spent his career working on database performance, scalability, benchmarking, and technology research across MySQL and other open source database systems. At Percona, he has led research and performance evaluation efforts focused on databases, storage engines, filesystems, and infrastructure design. Vadim is also widely recognized in the MySQL community as a long-time technical leader and co-author of High Performance MySQL.

Matt Lord
Secretary, OurSQL Foundation
PlanetScaleMatt Lord is the lead maintainer for the Vitess project — the open source database clustering system used to scale some of the world's largest MySQL deployments — and a Software Engineer at PlanetScale, where he works on the MySQL/Vitess database service. His work focuses on helping developers and companies operate MySQL at scale, with an emphasis on Vitess, database reliability, and developer experience. Matt is an active voice in the MySQL and Vitess communities through talks, technical content, and community support.

Tomas Ulin

He has been working on database internals and storage engines since 2001. Before joining PingCAP, Sunny worked at Oracle, where he led the MySQL/InnoDB team and contributed to major InnoDB scalability and performance improvements. His work includes core optimizations and features such as InnoDB full-text search, parallel DDL, and B-tree performance improvements.

His work is connected to the design, operation, and evolution of large-scale cloud database systems, including RDS and cloud-native database infrastructure. He is one of the primary authors of PolarDB. His main contribution was optimizing PolarDB to be cloud-native database — the specific details are in the CloudJump I/II/III papers. He brings the perspective of a major cloud provider to the OurSQL Foundation board and to discussions about the future of MySQL-compatible technologies in cloud environments.
